Job Description

A new opportunity for a Buyer has become available within the Procurement & Supply Chain division of Leighton Contractors. Reporting to the Senior Buyer the primary responsibility for the role will be competitive bidding, purchasing and expediting of goods and services across Leighton contractors operating divisions.

The role will be based in our Welshpool office in Perth. 

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting competitive bidding (preparation of quotation requests, liaising with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiating with potential suppliers and providing the internal customer with a recommendation);
• Converting Approved Purchase Requisitions to Purchase Orders;
• Tracking, expediting, de-expediting of purchase and assisting with held invoice resolution;
• Responsibility for identifying and communicating potential strategic sourcing opportunities to Category Managers;
• Preparation of Quick RFQ's;
• Supplier negotiation, selection and enablement;
• Ensuring compliance of spend against existing contracts;
• Raising Purchase orders and confirmation of orders;
• Reporting on lead times to Project teams and/or divisional requestors.

This will be a fast paced role and building relationships with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the business will be critical.

Desired Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following skills, experience and demonstrate the below competencies; complimented by a relevant Procurement & Supply Chain qualification or a related discipline:

• 5+ years commercial experience;
• Oracle Experience Preferred;
• Demonstrated problem solving competencies;
• A strong interest and demonstrated accountability in P2P operations;
• Demonstrated experience in Quoting, Purchasing, Expediting procedures;
• Ability to handle difficult stakeholders with tight timeframes;
• Can do Attitude;
• Strong Customer Service Focus;
• Candidates will need to be flexible to work between the times of 7am to 7pm.
