Position Description:
FMC Green River, WY is hiring a Mine Electrical Engineer to transfer and practice the knowledge of the current Business Leader who has 30+ years electrical engineering and commit five years to this role while developing into a leadership position
  • Perform as the sole electrical mine engineer; build and maintain the mine electrical system, audit safety, repair and maintain process control systems, preventative maintenance, maintain power (control board electronics to 34,400 Volts), equipment purchasing, software and hardware spec and installation, technical installation, design/program/repair boards, work with industrial motors, controllers, variable frequency drives. The position is 99% underground
  • Works closely with hourly staff and management; no direct reports

  • Adhere to all safety requirements
  • Participate in hazard reviews, safety audits, and safety meetings
  • Manage personal safety and safety of co-workers
  • Provide engineering design, documentation, necessary operation instructions, and technical support on all new and current electrical and process control systems for mine operations
  • Obtain mine foreman papers
  • Monitor equipment in areas of responsibility
  • Recommend corrective action and replacement as needed to prevent failure and unscheduled interruption of production
  • Test, analyze, and evaluate equipment performance and condition
  • Recommend and supervise change and correction of defects and deficiencies
  • Provide engineering and technical direction in the inspections and repairs of both large and small electrical equipment
  • Provide engineering support in the selection and procurement of parts, assemblies, tools, and equipment
  • Establish and refine preventative maintenance procedures and processes
  • Establish and refine repair and work scopes, administer maintenance service and repair contracts and perform shop inspections to assure quality repairs
  • Support department goals to keep maintenance costs at or below budget
  • Recommend new and different maintenance equipment and procedures to reduce costs and help insure repairs are completed right the first time
  • Recommend material additions or deletions from stores inventory to obtain the correct balance between equipment availability and time to repair
  • Monitor and report project and equipment cots to assist in keeping maintenance and capital spending within budget
  • Document equipment change and repair to assure information will be easily obtainable for future repairs, purchases, etc.
  • Accomplish assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner
  • Work with minimal direct supervision and contact
  • Keep individuals informed of progress and developments
  • Participate in the performance management process to identify areas of individual and professional development
  • Develop skills to coordinate the daily activities of a maintenance crew

Requirements:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electronics
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience; 7-10 preferred
  • Must have hands-on working knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits and systems, high and low voltage power distributions, AC/DC motor control, industrial controls, process control systems, programming and instrumentation and equipment reliability techniques.
  • Trona experience preferred
  • National Electrical Code preferred
  • AC/DC Electrical Motor/Generator and control preferred
  • Desire to develop into a strategic leader
