A large and rapidly expanding hardrock operation in East Africa currently seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their technical services team.
In this newly created role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing, supervising and implementation of daily geotechnical requirements of an active open pit mining environment including implementation of proactive strategies to reduce risks and hazards associated with pit wall stability.
- Providing geotechnical support and input into new open-pit development studies, open pit cutback redesigns and existing pit wall stability assessments.
- Maintaining up to date geological models through the collection and interpretation of ongoing pit mapping data, inclusive of structural, lithological and geotechnical interpretation.

Ideally, you will be a tertiary qualified geotechnical engineer or engineering geologist with a strong background in opencut hardrock operations (e.g. 5+ years experience). You will possess a working knowledge of geotechnical drilling, logging and software (e.g. Dips, Vulcan). Previous African or international experience and some underground exposure will be highly regarded.
