Job Description

The Role

Working within the Premier Oil Vietnam Business Unit. Primarily Package Engineer for the minor packages for the Chim Sao Power Project. Provision of mechanical engineering expertise in the following areas:
  • Technical Authority for general mechanical engineering for the Vietnam Business Unit [non rotating];
  • Technical management of the ‘minor mechanical’ packages, fuel gas, diesel treatment:
    • Bid clarification, evaluation, conditioning and technical recommendations;
    • Liaison as necessary with Aberdeen concept team and FEED Consultants;
    • To deal with all technical interfaces with the packages as required.
  • To provide significant assistance with the temporary power project and POB expansion projects and to take on a project engineering role in these to ensure they are delivered to schedule;
  • Resolution of mechanical engineering issues with existing equipment on Chim Sao;
  • Recommendations for improvements to existing equipment operability, condition monitoring or maintainability;
  • To assist the POVO Engineering Manager with the development of work methods, procedures and integrity reporting requirements and to input into the MoC process.
 Key Accountabilities
Key Responsibilities

  • Multi disciplinary coordination of fuel gas and diesel treatment packages throughout execution through to commissioning and handover;
  • Technical Authority for general mechanical engineering for the Vietnam Business Unit [non rotating];
  • Preparation of Technical Specifications, Inspection and Test Requirements and Material Requisitions for a range of process and utility duties
  • Technical Evaluation of Vendor Quotations including preparation of Technical Bid Comparisons
  • Technical negotiations with Equipment Vendors
  • Review and commenting of Vendor Documentation, review and compilation of comments from other disciplines
  • Review and verification of related detail design engineering documents
  • Inspections and Testing of Package Units
  • Finalisation of Final Vendor Documentation
  • Expediting of Vendor Package (if required by project)
  • Technical liaison with vendors and with other engineering disciplines
  • Squad check of inter discipline engineering documents
  • Onshore and offshore site surveys, commissioning support and production of site survey reports
  • Progress management
  • Provide support to Premier Oil’s mechanical equipment on the Lewek Emas FPSO;
  • Visit offshore when necessary [survey needs or troubleshooting];
  • Provide support for offshore as required for Planned Maintenance and technical issues.
  • Coordinate / follow up on equipment repairs, visit vendor w/shops to audit / inspect as req’d.
  • Contribute to planning of major works and preparation of work scopes and work packs.
  • Undertake problem or failure investigations onshore/offshore.
  • Manage technical records and documentation, ensure content and man-hours requirements in the maintenance management system is accurate.
  • Support PM system and manage changes with relation to Mechanical Equipment maintenance.
  • Owner of the mechanical maintenance strategies Owner of the mechanical performance management process during period of tenure.
Key Deliverables

  • Manage the minor mechanical packages such that technical interfaces are resolved, delivery on time is achieved and there is no unreasonable cost growth;
  • Provide project engineering input to the POB and temporary power projects to ensure ontime delivery.
  • Assist with the development and management of Condition Monitoring system [by others].
  • Provide mechanical engineering input into Chim Sao, Dua and any potential new assets ensuring Premier’s operational, certification and verification requirements are complied with and maintained and updated as appropriate.
  • Manage delivery of short-term maintenance solutions and undertake mechanical investigations, as required. Provide input into strategic studies to optimise mechanical equipment over Life of Field.

Desired Skills & Experience

‘Qualifications

BSc/ B Eng Mechanical engineering
Membership of Institute of Mechanical Engineers (preferred)


’Candidate Profile
Skills / experience:
Minimum 5 years in Mechanical Engineering discipline roles.
Experience in design, construction, maintenance and operation of related equipment

Knowledge (e.g. systems, software, procedures, regulations):
Comprehensive knowledge of regulations and guidance for the operation of mechanical equipment.

Good communication skills both written and verbal
Integrity and ability to stand by decision making
