Job Description
Electrical Engineer to work in the facilities
engineering department for United Launch Alliance in California. The position
will include design, operations and maintenance of electrical power systems on
the Atlas and Delta launch complexes at Vandenberg AFB. Candidate will perform
design and installation of new and modified facility electrical systems. Will
lead electrical contractors and technicians in the resolution of a variety of
electrical issues and outside design firms for major upgrades. Will work with a
diverse team of engineers and technicians in support of launch site operations
and maintenance.
As a condition of employment, you must be
able to obtain and thereafter maintain a favorable National Agency Check Inquiry
(NAC-I) in accordance with Air Force Instruction 31-501 entitled: Personnel
Security program management or an equivalent approval so that you have
continuous unescorted access to all ULA work locations, including
controlled/restricted areas, to perform their assigned work.
Basic Qualifications

Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering
-
Former ULA employees who have performed in this same job function will be considered regardless of degree as long as the other stated requirements on the requisition are met. Eight years of directly related work experience may be used to satisfy the bachelor's degree requirement.

Requires 10 years experience in Facility Electrical Engineering
-
Experience working independently and in a team environment.
-
Ability to lead others through complex problems and mentor lower grade engineers
-
Knowledge and experience with low and medium voltage power systems.

Experience with the National Electrical Code (NEC); NFPA 70E; and Arc Flash electrical safety fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with load flow, short circuit analysis and protective device coordination

Experience with industrial motor controls and equipment

Knowledge of control systems (SCADA/PLC/DDC) and fire alarm systems, UPS, generators, transformers, substations, lighting and general facility support equipment.

Knowledge of 7i Work Orders and ORBITS (internal only)

Experience working with Base Civil Engineering or Government Personnel
-
Experience in the preparation of SOW’s and construction specifications
-
Ability to lead outside firms through entire design and construction process
-
Experience with AutoCAD.

Demonstrates strong motivation, confidence and requires minimal direct supervision.
