We currently have some fantastic opportunities 25 minutes South of Orange, NSW, for highly motivated people who are looking to get started in the mining industry as Confined Space Sentries and general labourers for ongoing shutdown work. These roles are best suited for anyone seeking casual hours and who are located near Orange.

Daily tasks could include:
  • Monitoring confined space areas in which people work to check for atmospheric gases
  • Ensure that the crew is wearing all the required PPE for the work area
  • Check that all staff have read their paperwork and understand what is required of them before signing
  • Ensure that all workers entering a confined space area possesses a valid Confined Space ticket and that they sign in and out each time they enter and exit
  • Trades assisting
  • Cleaning up e.g. hosing
What you need to know about the available roles:
  • We are looking for people to start from July 1st 2013
  • These are casual positions for ongoing shutdown work
  • Pay rate is $27.35 p/h
  • 12 hour shifts, either day or night
  • Shutdowns occur on average 90 times a year and may last between one and several days
  • There is no accommodation or travel allowance provided for these roles so successful candidates will need to live locally.
Successful candidates will preferably possess:
  • Previous experience as a Confined Space sentry or in a labouring role 
  • Confined Space ticket (Beneficial)
  • Working at Heights ticket (Beneficial)
  • Current Cadia Induction (Beneficial)
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • The ability to work well in a team environment

The Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for developing short and long range mine plans as well as new mine expansion and project planning. The Senior Mine Engineer will also be responsible for annual budgeting and capital justification. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and will enjoy mentoring more junior employees.
Requirements:
BSc. Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline is required
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the coal mining industry is required
Professional Engineer designation is a plus
